There were 18,630 Corvette Roadsters, and 9,936 Coupes produced for the 1968 Model year. Both the Corvette Exterior and Interior were redesigned for the '68 production year. The power-glide 2 speed automatic transmission was now replaced with the 3 speed turbo hydra-matic. The front headlights no longer rotated, they now popped up from the body of the car. The battery was moved from the engine compartment to behind the drivers seat, where it would stay until the 1984 Model year. Exterior colors for the 1968 Corvette were: - British Green - Cordovan Maroon - Corvette Bronze - International Blue - Le Mans Blue - Polar White - Rally Red - Safari Yellow - Silverstone Silver - Tuxedo Black. Interior Colors were Black, Red, Gun Metal, Medium Blue, dark Blue, Dark Orange and Tabacco. The '68 vette weighed in at roughly 3,210lbs. The '68 vettes had 300hp to 435hp depending on the options chosen. The base price was $4,663 for the Coupe and $4,320 for the Roadster. |
